At Eastside Uplift, our mission is to be a lifeline of support and opportunity for the residents, families, and youth of East Baltimore. We’re here to break down barriers, build up communities, and create real pathways to economic stability, self-sufficiency, and lasting well-being. Through unity, hands-on support, and meaningful connection, we’re not just meeting urgent needs—we’re helping our neighbors thrive.

It's a united community where opportunity is within reach, support is never far, and the impact we make together is both deep and lasting.

Arnetta Shelton

A passionate community connector and advocate dedicated to uplifting Baltimore neighborhoods. A proud Baltimore native, Arnetta has devoted over 18 years to fostering community outreach and engagement, working tirelessly to provide resources and initiatives that drive economic development and growth for Baltimore City residents.​

Vice President / Vice Board Chair 

Kenneth Shelton

Kenneth is an award-winning gospel music producer and owner of KEN-HE? MUSIC Productions. A devoted husband and father, Kenneth is known for his God-fearing spirit and service. He uses his gifts to uplift others and give back to the community. His passion for music and ministry continues to inspire lives around the world.

Lawanda Johnson

Lawanda is a skilled graphic designer and marketing strategist with a passion for nonprofit work and community impact. An East Baltimore native and caregiver, she loves organizing events that bring people together and uplift the community. Lawanda uses her creative talents to support local causes and inspire change.

Jessica Spencer

Jessica is a legal professional with 15 years of experience in insurance and personal injury. A devoted wife and mother, she’s passionate about advocacy and pursuing a career as an attorney. As Treasurer of Eastside Uplift, Jessica helps manage finances and is committed to making a positive community impact.

Tanya Howard

Tanya is the owner of Main Attraction Decor with over 15 years of experience in event planning and management. She is dedicated to bringing her clients’ visions to life with creativity and care. As a wife, mother, grandmother, and the true matriarch of her family, Tanya leads with love, faith,

and strength.

Edward Pitchford

Edward Pitchford is a dedicated community leader who mentors youth and young adults across East Baltimore. His passion for service is rooted in his faith, and through ministry and outreach, he works to inspire and uplift others. Edward makes faith and community service a lifelong priority. He is also a devoted husband.

Erin Way

Erin is a proud Baltimore native, devoted homemaker, and a woman of faith and service. In 2017, she became CEO of MommaYOU, a support initiative for bereaved mothers that has since grown into a powerful podcast. Erin is committed to uplifting others through compassion, community, and connection.

The Pull Up Program

We’ve heard our community loud and clear—barriers are real and urgent. That’s why each month, we show up for two families with direct, hands-on support like groceries, utility help, transportation, and more—delivered right to their door.

Community Day / Resource Fair

Each summer, we host a community day with resources, food, entertainment, and conversations to uplift Baltimore residents. It’s a celebration of resilience and a space for connections and belonging.

Quarterly Workshops

We host virtual and in-person workshops to educate, empower, and connect residents to vital resources. Topics include financial literacy, career development, parenting support, generational wealth, homeownership and more.
